During our hour-long segment on Mondays, we usually address topics affecting the Dallas-Fort Worth, Keller and Southlake real estate markets.

For instance, during one of our most recent segments, we discussed the 100 down program for HUD foreclosures, investment opportunities versus the stock market and the dangers of selling a home For Sale By Owner.

But recently we got together to discuss a different cause: keeping the homeless warm during the holiday season.

Donate For a Good Cause in Southlake, Texas Area

A young Texan named Phillip saw the need for warm clothing for the homless people in Texas.

Evidently, the homeless shelters in the area are becoming overcrowded and forcing many of them outside into the cold!

Phillip enlisted the help of Willie and Sean Bone with Supreme Lending (who are the main hosts for the radio show I co-host occasionally) during a recent radio segment.

We’re trying to fulfill Phillip’s wish to keep the homeless warm by the end of the month but we need your help!

Here’s how you can help make the holiday season a bit brighter (and warmer) for these homeless individuals:

  • Donate items to the office by December 16, 2011
  • Items needed: Sleeping bags, toiletries for women and men, coats, hats, socks and gloves and of course blankets are welcome.  No mouthwash please.
  • Delivery event will be from 10 a.m. to noon on December 17th at Tom Thumb on 1708 and Rufe Snow in Keller.

I think this is a wonderful cause to support because it addresses a very basic human need for shelter and warmth.  And doesn’t everyone deserve that, especially during this time of year?

So please help join this worthy cause and donate any items you can!

Southlake Real Estate Team Fights Breast Cancer

The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness, and our team, Walkers for Knockers, is thrilled to be able to raise money for the great cause once again. On September 25, 2010, Walkers for Knockers hosted our annual Casino Night Party and Fundraiser in Arlington, Texas. The party was hosted by teammates LeeAnna Spell, Julie Townsend, Angela McKay and Kelly Noel, who all did a magnificent job of getting the Southlake Texas communities involved!

Southlake Real Estate Casino Night Helps Susan G. Komen Foundation

The casino party featured fabulous door prizes and amazing silent auction items. All the net proceeds from the casino party benefited the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. And for the second year, I sponsored the Walkers for Knockers fundraising efforts to ensure all money raised could go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure campaign.

Join Southlake, TX Realtors In Fighting Breast Cancer

On November 5, 2010, the Susan G. Komen 3Day for the Cure will commence in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Approximately 3000 walkers will begin their 60 mile journey over 3 days, and our Southlake real estate team, Walkers for Knockers, will once again be among them! 2010 marks the 6th year in a row that Team Captain Julie Townsend will put on her walking shoes with 11 walkers and go the distance and we are so very proud of her and everyone in our local Southlake TX neighborhoods walking with us this year.

]]> http://blog.teamhodnett.com/2010/10/southlake-real-estate-walkers-for-knockers/feed/ 0 Keller Texas Chamber “Party On the Lake”Event was a Success! http://blog.teamhodnett.com/2010/07/keller-chamber-event-was-a-success/ http://blog.teamhodnett.com/2010/07/keller-chamber-event-was-a-success/#comments Sat, 17 Jul 2010 16:43:51 +0000 Sharon Hodnett http://blog.teamhodnett.com/?p=134 This event  started with Happy Hour at The Dinghy Bar & Grill, newly opened by nationally recognized restaurateur,  Dee Lincoln.  The sunset cruise took place aboard the Chamonix II Catamaran, with Captain Mike McMahon at the stern.  This all-inclusive affair encouraged great fun and all enjoyed a beautiful evening among business leaders in the greater Keller area.  Admission fee was $25 per person which included cruise, 2 drink tickets and catering by Sonny Bryan’s Smokehouse.  Approximately 100 guest attended the sunset cruise.

We set sail about 7:15 on Thursday,  June 24th.  We returned promptly at 10:00 pm. Laughter, singing and dancing were enjoyed by all. I spent a good portion of the evening getting to know Suzanne and Steve Johnson. Suzanne is the hamber president. We discussed upcoming events that will be sponsored by the Chamber of Keller.   Rhonda Seyfreid is the events and activities specialist at Keller Chamber of Commerce.  She did a fabulous job as well.

All are encouraged to attend one of the Keller Chamber Events! I had a great time and made some wonderful contacts there. I may even sell one of my waterfronts as a result of this event!
